How to Play Minute to Win It Games

To play the 60-second game players are given a series of challenges that they need to complete in 1 minute. You can play this game in large groups or small groups with family and friends.

Decide on Teams or Individuals

First, decide if players will compete as a group or individually. This really depends on how many people you have playing the game.

If you decide to have groups you will now pick who is on each team. Sometimes it’s easier to assign the groups ahead of time so there is no fighting.

Now determine if you want it to be a competitive game or a friendly game. Players can simply try to beat the 1-minute timer or play to beat the other teams.

If you choose to be competitive make sure you have a chart to write down each player or team’s times. This will help you keep track of who won each game.

How to Win

The team member who completes the Minute to Win It challenges in 1 minute wins the game. If you are playing on teams or competitively and two or more players complete the challenge then the fastest player wins.

St. Patrick's Day 60 Second Challenges

Tip - Any of the candies and cereals can be switched to what you have so you don't have to buy all of these if you want to save money. For instance, switch Skittles candies to M&Ms.

1. Shamrock Shake Challenge

Classic Junk in the Trunk Game for St. Patrick's Day parties. A fun St. Patrick's Day Minute to Win It game to challenge kids, teens and adults.

Supplies Needed – Empty tissue boxes, a belt or a long shoelace, 10 ping pong balls (yellow color or white), and green wrapping paper, or green tape.

How to Play – This game is Junk in the Trunk Holiday version. The first thing to do is make your St. Parick's Day box. I wrapped my tissue box in green tape but green wrapping paper, or green construction paper works too.

To make your box first wrap a Kleenex box in green paper making sure to leave the area you pull Kleenex tissues unwrapped.

Next, cut two slits on the opposite side of the box opening. Then have the belt or shoelace go through the slits. Lastly, add to the box 10 ping pong balls and place the box around a player’s waist with the belt.

Players then have 1 minute to shake out all their ping-pong balls. This is hilarious to watch!

Tip: Use yellow ping pong balls to look like gold.

2. Lucky Chop

Hilarious St. Patrick's Day Minute to Win it Game Lucky Chopsticks. Players have 60 seconds to pick up Lucky Charms cereal with chopsticks and add them to a bowl. Quick & funny game for classroom parties and St. Patrick's Day parties.

Supplies Needed – Lucky Charms cereal, chopsticks for each player, bowls

How to Play - Give each play a pile of lucky charms cereal, two chopsticks, and a bowl. 

Players need to move as many lucky charms using the chopsticks into their bowl as they can before a minute is up. The first player to get all their cereal in the bowl or whoever gets the most cereal into their bowl wins. 

3. Leprechaun Gold Digger

This St. Patrick's Day play the 60 Second Challenge game Leprechaun Gold Digger. Serach for gold coins in green grass.

Supplies - Green plastic Easter grass, gold coins, and a blindfold.

How to Play - Players are each given a large bowl of Easter grass mixed with hidden gold coins. They will place a blindfold across their eyes and have one minute to search and pull out as many gold coins as they can find. 

4. Thread the Rainbow

Easy St. Patrick's Day Minute to Win it game called Thread the Rainbow. Players have 60 seconds to string Rainbow Fruit Loops to a pipe cleaner.

Supplies Needed – Fruit Loops cereal, pipe cleaner for each player

How to Play - Give each player a stack of fruit loops and a pipe cleaner. Players will string their fruit loops onto the pipe cleaner. The player with the most fruit loops strung onto the pipe cleaner wins. 

Tip: Check Dollar Store for generic Fruit Loops cereal to save money.

5. Leprechaun Balancing Act

Challenge friends and family to a St. Patrick's Day Minute to Win it game Leprechaun Balancing Act with fruit loop cereal or Lucky Charms cereal.

Supplies Needed - Fruit Loops or Lucky Charms cereal, popsicle sticks or tongue depressors

How to Play - Players will be given 3-4 stacked cereal pieces to balance on a popsicle stick or a tongue depressor.  Place a chair on the other side of the room. Players need to put the popsicle stick between their teeth and balance the cereal while walking to the chair and back to where they started without dropping the cereal. The first player back to their starting location wins. 

6. Lucky Coin Toss

How many gold coins can you toss into the green bowl in this St. Patrick's Day Minute to Win It game. A fun 60 second challenge for kids, teens and adults.

Supplies Needed - A green bucket, large green bowl or even a pan and plastic gold coins

How to Play - Players will be given a stack of gold coins and have 1 minute to try and toss as many coins into the green bucket as they can. The winner is the player with the most gold coins in their bucket. 

Tip: You could play this game by tossing in the Lucky Charms cereal instead of gold coins. 

7. Leprechaun Lung Power

Fun Suck It Up Minute to Win It game for St. Patrick's Day parties. Complete the challenge in 60 seconds to move Skittles from one bowl to the other bowl.

Supplies Needed - Rainbow Skittles, Straws and bowls

How to Play - Players are given a pile of skittles and have one minute to use the straw to suck up a skittle and add it to the bowl. The player with the most Skittles in the bowl at the end of the minute wins. 

8. Mint Cookie Face

Play this fun St. Patrick's Day Minute to Win it Challenge Cookie Face. Try and get the mint cookie to your mouth without using your hands.

Supplies Needed - Mint Cookies or Mint Oreo Cookies

Supplies Needed - Colored steamers or all green streamers

How to Play - This is a team game. Each team picks one teammate who will be wrapped with green streams. The team then has 1 minute to wrap their teammate. The first team to fully wrap their teammate wins.

Supplies Needed - 42 Green or Gold plastic cups

How to Play – This is a classic cup-stacking game. The first team to play will be given 42 plastic cups in a single stack. When the 1-minute timer starts the player will need to stack all 42 cups into a pyramid without it falling down. Then take apart the pyramid and return the plastic cups into a single stack. First player to do this wins!

11. Magical Mix-Up

Supplies - Green or gold balloons, little Dixie cups

How to Play - On the shorter side of a table or longer desk create a finish line on one side with painter's tape. On the other side of the table give each player a balloon and an empty cup.
