DIY Frozen Hallway Laser Maze
Your kids are going to love this easy-to-make DIY indoor obstacle course this winter. A fun way to get kids off electronics and moving when you're stuck indoors this winter season. Or use it as the ultimate Frozen Birthday party game!
Materials Needed for Maze
Here are the materials you’ll need to create your hallway spider web.
- White Streamers or Yarn
- Masking Tape or Painter’s Tape (won't stick to your walls)
- Large and Small Snowflakes
- Winter Door Covering (if it ends in a doorway)
- Fishing Line
- Scissors
How to Make Your DIY Indoor Obstacle Course
1. Choose Your Indoor Space
Find a hallway space that will work for your rainy day game or a Frozen Birthday party.
The maze can end in a room where you have your Frozen party, or just a space for kids to wait while everyone participates
2. Put Up Your Door Covering
If your winter maze ends at a door, put up the door covering first. I used this tinsel door covering to give it a winter shimmery look like ice.
3. Hang Snowflakes From the Ceiling
It is easier to hang the snowflakes from the ceiling before you add your streamers to the walls.
I used these already-made snowflakes and tied each with fishing line to hang. The fishing line makes it seem as though the snowflakes are suspended in the air.
4. Tape Your Streamers to the Wall
- Start at the end and move your way to the start
- Tape one end of the streamers to the wall and stretch them across the hallway at different angles.
- Place some high to step over, some low to crawl under, and some in the middle to duck through.
- When you’re in the middle of the maze, hang your snowflake from a fishing line and tape it to the ceiling.
Tip: Use painter's tape so it won't stick to your walls
How to Play
You can choose to play this winter game just for fun at home or competitively for Frozen Birthday Parties, Winter Birthday parties, or Rainy Day games with friends and family.
If playing competitively, time the kids as they race through the maze to see who is the fastest. You can even have a prize for the winner.
Here’s how to play:
- Kids take turns racing through the hallway maze.
- The goal is to get to the end without breaking the ice strands.
- If a strand is broken, the player starts over again.
- If you’re playing competitively, make sure to time the kids.
Tip: Keep the fun going by letting the kids rearrange the streamers at different angles so they can keep trying it over and over again. This can take up hours on a day you're stuck indoors!
You're kids are going to be so excited to race through the winter indoor obstacle course. An icy hallway maze that is sure to challenge your kids and create friendly competition to see who can get through the laser maze the fastest.
